It located in the center of the West Indies. It was a Spanish territory in 1508 subce Columbus discovered this in 1493. However, it became America territory by result of the war between Spain and America in 1898. Also, it became a self-governing dominion. After this, there are movements, one for independence and the other for becoming certain state of America at the same time.
One interesting thing about Puerto Rico is that diplomacy and defense are covered by USA, however, Puerto Rico participates Olympics and MissUniverse independently with their own flag.
